Lead Developer for Financial Crime Prevention Models

About the role

Nordea is seeking a Lead Developer to own the design, development and validation of transaction monitoring models that protect the bank and its customers from financial crime. You will work within the Design, Review, Optimise and Model Management team of the Transaction Monitoring Unit, contributing to the group‑wide fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, document and validate transaction monitoring models, ensuring robust model governance.
• Lead model governance activities, including validation assessments and incorporation of second‑line feedback.
• Define the direction for model development and experimental design, balancing analytical rigor with practical constraints.
• Document model design, assumptions, limitations and outcomes, collaborating with the analytics team.
• Provide hands‑on support for prototyping tests and analytical methodologies.
• Mentor and collaborate with the analytics team to establish model SOPs, data lineage, tuning, calibration and monitoring.
• Represent the organisation professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in model development for financial crime prevention or related domains.
• Strong understanding of model risk management, validation and governance.
• Ability to translate complex analytical concepts into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
