Software Engineer - Business Funds Risk

About the role

Wise is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Business Funds Risk team. You will help build and maintain the global, scalable controls that keep money on the platform clean, compliant and easy to move, ensuring a fast, low‑friction experience for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate real‑time risk checks and decision‑making services using Java and Spring.
• Implement and optimise Kafka‑based messaging pipelines for high‑throughput data processing.
• Collaborate with product, compliance and engineering partners to define end‑to‑end risk flows and customer communication.
• Write clean, testable code and conduct code reviews following best practices.
• Maintain and tune relational databases, ensuring efficient queries and data integrity.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and support deployment of micro‑services in a distributed environment.
