Tech Lead – Java Backend (Payments & Cash Management)

About the role

We are looking for a Tech Lead to drive the design and delivery of critical banking systems within our Payments and Cash Management engineering area. The role combines strategic architecture work with hands‑on coding, allowing you to shape modern, cloud‑ready solutions for corporate customers across the Baltics.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Java/Spring Boot back‑end services for complex banking flows.
• Create REST APIs and event‑driven integrations using Apache Kafka between internal platforms, data stores and external systems.
• Develop reliable processes for account lifecycle, payment initiation, routing, validation, balances and statements.
• Leverage AWS, CI/CD pipelines, observability and monitoring to ensure production‑readiness.
• Maintain data consistency, auditability and recovery using PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Modernise legacy capabilities into a maintainable, cloud‑native architecture.
• Make technical decisions focused on correctness, security, resilience and operational stability.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on back‑end engineering experience, especially with Java and Spring.
• Proven ability to lead technical design, guide developers and collaborate with architects, product owners and vendors.
• Comfortable diving into code while also providing architectural oversight.
• Experience delivering mission‑critical, event‑driven systems in a regulated environment.
