Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer on Bolt’s Database Reliability team, you will lead the design, implementation and automation of highly reliable, scalable database infrastructure that powers all of Bolt’s mobility services. You will work closely with engineering, product and operations teams to ensure performance, resilience and continuous improvement at massive scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and automate scalable database systems, planning for future growth.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, resolve critical incidents and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, optimise configurations, queries and indexes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design, query reviews and best‑practice guidance.
• Enforce security standards, manage access controls and ensure compliance with data governance.

Required profile

• Proven track record in systems engineering and large‑scale distributed environments.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting skills covering networking, file systems, security and kernel.
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and familiarity with NewSQL/NoSQL technologies.
• Ability to work in a no‑blame, collaborative culture and communicate effectively across teams.
