Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Twilio is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the next generation of its communications platform. You will work on the SMS connectivity layer, designing and optimizing a highly available, low‑latency distributed system that serves millions of messages worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy new features in a Java‑based microservices environment.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues independently.
• Manage work using GitHub, Jira, and internal CI/CD pipelines.
• Write unit, integration, and load tests to ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and ship new capabilities.

Required profile

• Strong computer‑science fundamentals, especially data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Dropwizard, Spring, or Hibernate.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Google Cloud or Azure acceptable).
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
