Staff React Native Engineer - Pro

About the role

Payward is looking for a Staff React Native Engineer to lead the mobile experience of Kraken Pro, its advanced crypto‑trading platform. You will shape the technical vision, drive performance improvements, and mentor a distributed team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Own and define the architecture of the Kraken Pro mobile application built with React Native and TypeScript.
• Lead initiatives to improve startup time, responsiveness, and overall resource efficiency.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver high‑impact user‑facing features.
• Act as a technical leader across multiple squads, ensuring code‑base consistency and quality.
• Diagnose and resolve critical production incidents.
• Define and evolve engineering standards, best practices, and tooling for mobile development.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical capability of the team.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on mobile development.
• Proven track record of owning or leading large‑scale production mobile applications.
• Deep expertise in React Native and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of mobile performance optimisation, architecture, and debugging.
• Solid knowledge of iOS and Android platforms.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical direction across teams.
• Proactive, ownership‑driven mindset with a bias for action.
