Engineering Lead – Checkout, Consumer & Merchant

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Lead (Checkout, Consumer & Merchant) to join our team at our Berlin, Amsterdam and Tallinn locations and build the next generation of fintech solutions. In this role you will lead a group of Engineering Leads, ensuring technical excellence and delivery performance across multiple engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and own the technical direction across multiple teams, translating architectural vision and business strategy into clear priorities.
• Lead, develop and grow a team of Engineering Leads, strengthening their leadership capabilities.
• Drive engineering and delivery excellence at scale, establishing consistent standards for quality, security, maintainability and modern practices while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Balance delivery with long‑term technical sustainability, partnering with Product and Tech leadership to prioritize technical debt and structural improvements.
• Accelerate AI‑enabled engineering, identifying high‑value use cases and fostering adoption across teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams and developing engineering leaders.
• Broad software engineering and architectural expertise across frontend, backend, data and cloud technologies.
• Product and business mindset with ability to translate priorities into technical direction.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated AI fluency and ability to lead organisational change for AI adoption.
