Head of the Smart City Research Group

About the role

The Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences (EUAS) seeks a senior researcher to lead its Smart City Research Group located in the Ülemiste Smart City campus. You will shape the strategic direction, build a high‑performing team, and drive user‑centric research that supports cities and companies.

Key responsibilities

• Take over an established research group, set its strategic direction and recruit needed talent.
• Steer the development of user‑centric Smart City research in Estonia.
• Build a research portfolio on urban and living environments, covering spatial, mobility and environmental data.
• Transform analytical data into decision‑support tools for cities and businesses.
• Test and validate solutions in the living lab of Ülemiste City.
• Represent EUAS in national and international networks.

Required profile

• PhD with proven expertise in spatial or mobility data analytics, data science, urban studies or a related discipline.
• Experience leading a team or managing a research process.
• Track record of designing, applying for and delivering RDI projects, including budget management.
• International publications based on your research.
• Ability to supervise junior researchers, doctoral candidates and students.
