Lead Android Engineer (EMEA Remote)

About the role

Pragmatike is recruiting on behalf of a European deep‑tech company that is building a decentralized, energy‑efficient alternative to traditional cloud providers. The position is for a Senior/Lead Android Engineer (staff‑level mindset) to design and evolve Android applications that interface with a decentralized cloud platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop high‑performance Android applications using Kotlin, following modern Android design principles.
• Architect scalable, maintainable mobile solutions with a strong emphasis on performance, memory usage and battery efficiency.
• Integrate Android apps with backend services and distributed systems, ensuring data synchronization, offline support and network resilience.
• Own the full mobile lifecycle from development through Play Store deployment, including CI/CD and release processes.
• Implement mobile security best practices, secure data handling and collaborate with backend/infrastructure teams for seamless integration.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor team members and drive engineering standards and best practices.

Required profile

• 5–6+ years of experience as a Senior or Lead Android Engineer.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin and the Android SDK.
• Proven experience with modern Android architectures such as MVVM and Clean Architecture.
• Deep understanding of Android performance optimisation, lifecycle management and asynchronous programming (Coroutines, Flow).
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with data persistence solutions (Room, SQLite).
• Effective communication skills and ability to influence technical direction within Agile teams.
