Product Backend Engineer

About the role

Messente builds messaging and authentication APIs used worldwide, handling over 700 million SMS messages a year. It is looking for an experienced Product Backend Engineer to join its Omni squad. The engineer works with stakeholders to understand problems, explore solutions, make feature-level architecture decisions and deliver work to production, owning the result rather than just implementing a specification. The work involves high-availability systems where performance and reliability matter.

Key responsibilities

• Build messaging and authentication APIs, including WhatsApp, RCS and network-based authentication.
• Take features from research and technical design through implementation and delivery.
• Improve high-throughput, high-availability backend services and contribute to technical decisions.

Required profile

• Strong backend experience and ability to deliver features end to end independently.
• Able to evaluate technical trade-offs and take responsibility for results.
• Understanding of production reliability and performance; experience with high-throughput or high-availability systems is a plus.
• Clear communication and openness to AI-assisted development.

Required skills

• Stack: Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, HAProxy, Ansible and Linux.
• The company is moving its Hetzner-hosted infrastructure toward AWS and Kubernetes; prior cloud expertise is not required.

What we offer

• Pay from EUR 5,000 gross per month, depending on experience and skills.
• Full-time employment or B2B contract; remote-friendly, preferably Estonia or a compatible European time zone.
