Senior Back-End Software Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Back‑End Software Engineer you will join Scoro’s Product Engineering team in Tallinn or Riga, working on the Time team that powers day‑to‑day project delivery and time management. You will focus on backend development with PHP, tackling complex systems that impact thousands of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Write high‑quality, maintainable, and efficient code for Scoro’s work‑management platform.
• Identify and solve complex technical challenges with an emphasis on scalability, performance, and security.
• Own the development lifecycle from idea through deployment, collaborating with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers.
• Champion modern technologies, tools, and best practices to keep the stack sharp.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude to boost productivity.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with PHP, including plain PHP without heavy frameworks.
• Experience working in large‑scale or monolithic codebases.
• Proficiency with databases and data stores such as MySQL, MariaDB, Elasticsearch, or Redis.
• Ability to design scalable, well‑architected solutions and embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Excellent English communication skills and a proactive, collaborative attitude.
