Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer at Creditstar, you will take ownership of the data platform behind our analytics, reporting, and data science across our European markets. You will shape the platform, tooling, and practices that let our BI, Analytics, and Data Science teams build on data they can trust.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve Creditstar's data platform on AWS and Snowflake, keeping it reliable, performant, and scalable.
• Strengthen platform performance, security, secrets management, and observability across the data stack.
• Track and optimize Snowflake and AWS spend, leading FinOps practices within the data team.
• Advance data governance with clear ownership, access and PII controls, data lineage, and audit readiness in line with GDPR.
• Define and uphold engineering standards for testing, versioning, code reviews, CI/CD, and Git‑based workflows.
• Own the integration layer connecting internal and third‑party data sources.
• Lead incident response for the data platform, ensuring durable fixes.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure requirements and solutions.
• Support BI Engineers, Analysts, and Data Scientists with a well‑governed, self‑serve platform.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience running and improving a cloud data platform on AWS and Snowflake.
• Solid grasp of cloud infrastructure, security, and cost management, able to set requirements and assess solutions alongside DevOps.
• Practical experience with data governance, access control, and PII management.
• Background in a regulated environment such as finance, banking, or AML/KYC.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with technical and business stakeholders.
• Ownership‑driven mindset: stay with a problem until it is resolved.
• Structured working style with confidence to set standards where none exist.
• Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to thrive in a fast‑scaling environment.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
