Senior Frontend Engineer – Consumer Products

About the role

We are looking for a senior frontend engineer to join the Consumer team that builds the Kraken app used by millions of crypto traders. You will work across web (React) and mobile (React Native) to deliver high‑quality, data‑driven features that turn first‑time users into long‑term customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain consumer‑facing features on both web and mobile, owning the full lifecycle from concept to production monitoring.
• Drive A/B testing and experimentation, formulate hypotheses, analyse results and iterate based on data.
• Partner with product, design, data and platform teams to create coherent experiences across Kraken’s consumer surfaces.
• Make opinionated technical decisions on frameworks and architecture, such as router choices and component patterns.
• Set standards for code quality, accessibility, performance and testability, and mentor engineers of all seniority levels.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development experience focused on consumer‑facing web or mobile products.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, able to write clear RFCs and explain technical trade‑offs to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in fintech, crypto or other high‑trust consumer domains where correctness matters.

Required skills

• TypeScript and the React ecosystem (state management, data fetching, component architecture).
• React Native production experience and mobile release pipelines for App Store and Google Play.
• Next.js, especially App Router, React Server Components and client/server boundary decisions.
• A/B testing and feature‑flag tools such as LaunchDarkly or Optimizely.
• Real‑time UI technologies like WebSockets or Server‑Sent Events.
• Testing frameworks: Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress.
• Modern build tools (Vite, Webpack) and CI/CD pipelines.
• AI‑assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) with a disciplined review process.
