Staff Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Design Engineer to shape both the visual and technical aspects of Ashby’s recruiting platform. In this hybrid design‑engineering role you will create high‑impact user experiences while building the underlying code that brings them to life.

Key responsibilities

• Redesign the mobile web app by gathering user feedback, wireframing new flows, implementing the design system, and delivering polished UI.
• Develop flexible, composable components for the in‑house design system that enable engineers to build consistent setup wizards across the product.
• Collaborate with product engineers to improve information hierarchy and scannability of candidate assessment screens, helping recruiters quickly parse data.

Required profile

• Strong visual design taste and execution ability, with a track record of delivering high‑quality UI.
• Comfortable shipping fast, iterating based on user feedback, and balancing perfection with rapid delivery.
• Enjoys working without heavy‑handed processes, focusing on design and technical details while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
