AML/CTF and Sanctions Compliance Officer & FIU Contact Person

About the role

Wallester, a FinTech company providing white-label card issuance platforms and card solutions, is looking for an autonomous and principled AML/CTF and Sanctions Compliance Officer to act as its designated Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Contact Person. The role sits in the Second Line of Defense and reports directly to the Management Board.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the macro-level and individual ML/TF and sanctions risk assessment frameworks in line with EFSA and EBA guidelines.
• Provide regular written updates, risk-exposure information and a comprehensive annual compliance activity report to the Management Board.
• Advise senior management on onboarding high-risk customers and propose measures to eliminate compliance deficiencies found by auditors or supervisory authorities.
• Handle suspicious activity escalations and reporting to the FIU, and assume full operational responsibility for regulatory compliance in the MLRO's absence.

Required profile

• Proven experience identifying, assessing and managing ML/TF and sanctions risks within a regulated financial institution.
• Degree in law, economics, finance or business (or relevant in-service training).
• Strong and broad understanding of compliance laws, regulations and industry standards; ICA or ACAMS certification is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English and working proficiency in Estonian.
• Sufficient seniority and length of service to work independently and autonomously.
