Compliance Generalist

About the role

Nortal is looking for a Compliance Generalist who will shape the way AI governance, data protection and regulatory change are embedded across the group. You will work at the intersection of technology and law, turning complex regulations into practical, business‑friendly processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the AI governance operating model, including structures, processes and accountability frameworks.
• Interpret and implement AI regulations, especially the EU AI Act, and translate requirements into internal guidance.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, information security, product and business teams to embed AI governance principles.
• Provide GDPR support: evaluate software approvals, manage data‑breach notifications, handle data‑subject rights and keep GDPR registers up to date.
• Lead regulatory monitoring, tracking legislative developments and emerging compliance obligations.
• Support the compliance risk programme, covering policy management, due diligence, internal audits, investigations and conflict‑of‑interest processes.
• Design and deliver AI and compliance training across the organisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance, legal or governance roles, preferably in a technology or professional services environment.
• Law degree (LLB, LLM or equivalent) or a closely related academic background.
• Hands‑on experience with AI regulation (EU AI Act), GDPR and data‑protection policy drafting.
• Strong ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and produce clear, actionable guidance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and project‑management skills.
• Fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.
