Compliance Model Validator – Financial Crime Risk

About the role
Are you passionate about financial crime risk models? In this role you will independently validate rule‑based and machine‑learning models used to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions violations, and help strengthen Swedbank’s compliance framework.
Key responsibilities
- Perform independent model validations for financial crime risk models, including both rule‑based and machine‑learning approaches.
- Assess model risk across objectives, design, assumptions, data, implementation, governance and performance monitoring.
- Produce high‑quality validation reports that support model development and risk‑management decisions.
- Proactively challenge the first line of defense on model design and monitoring, ensuring models effectively mitigate compliance risks.
- Contribute to Swedbank’s continuous compliance maturity journey by improving tools and models.
Required profile
- Degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics or economics.
- Experience assembling and analysing large data sets, and strong SQL skills for querying databases.
- Hands‑on experience with rule‑based and machine‑learning models (supervised and unsupervised) using Python.
- Familiarity with retail banking products, compliance risks and model risk management for AML/CTF/FS models.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
