Compliance Officer & Money Laundering Reporting Officer

About the role

Crowdestate is building specialised payment and crowdfunding infrastructure for businesses across the EEA. The Compliance Officer will also serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), overseeing AML/CTF, sanctions compliance and regulatory communication.

Key responsibilities

• Review unusual activity, assess suspicion and decide on filing reports to the Estonian FIU.
• Submit SARs, respond to FIU requests and maintain the FIU relationship.
• Advise colleagues on customer onboarding, transaction reviews and high‑risk approvals.
• Maintain AML/CTF and sanctions risk assessments, policies and controls.
• Oversee KYC, CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions and PEP screening.
• Conduct risk‑based compliance monitoring of payment‑services obligations and track corrective actions.
• Prepare reports for senior management and support regulatory inspections and audits.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of AML/CTF, sanctions or financial‑crime compliance experience.
• Hands‑on experience reviewing unusual activity and preparing SARs.
• Strong communication skills in Estonian and English, both spoken and written.
• Knowledge of Estonian and EU AML/CTF and sanctions regulations.
• Experience in a regulated financial institution, payments or fintech environment.
• Professional fluency in Estonian and English and ability to work permanently in Estonia.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and sanctions screening.
• Proficiency in customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and transaction monitoring.
