Job description
About the role
LHV is transforming how data is structured, understood and connected across its organisation, and is looking for a hands-on Data Governance Specialist to bridge business and technical teams. The role brings metadata and the business glossary into a shared, transparent environment, formalises business rules and simplifies workflows so that data becomes a trusted foundation for future data products and automated solutions. The position is based in Tallinn or Tartu; relocation is not offered.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and configure the data catalogue as the primary superuser, keeping workflows and taxonomy structures aligned with operational and governance needs.
- Expand and align the group-level business glossary with data owners and Data Stewards, formalising business terms, critical data elements and business rules.
- Lead the consolidation and migration of technical and business metadata into the central catalogue, setting up metadata associations, business mappings and an intuitive user experience.
- Work with platform engineers to define technical requirements for catalogue enhancements, map data flows and automate end-to-end data lineage and metadata ingestion.
- Refine stewardship workflows, identify bottlenecks and explore ways to automate metadata curation and routine tasks with AI.
- Deliver training and practical documentation for Data Owners, Stewards and business stakeholders.
- Build the groundwork for mature data governance, including data contracts, data quality monitoring and data products.
Required profile
- At least one year of hands-on experience administering, configuring or managing an enterprise data catalogue or metadata management platform.
- Proven track record in formalising business glossaries, documenting critical data elements and establishing business rules.
- Ability to turn data governance policies into tool configurations, stewardship workflows and clear technical requirements.
- Confident communication and presentation skills, with a willingness to train and advise stakeholders.
- Resides in Estonia; relocation is not offered.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying, data profiling and metadata verification.
- Experience with automated metadata harvesting, REST APIs or bulk metadata updates is a strong advantage.
- Prior exposure to regulatory reporting frameworks or financial sector data environments is a distinct plus.
- Proficiency in Estonian is preferred.
