Full Stack Software Engineer – AI Squad (Tallinn)
Assessio · Tallinn
Job description
About the role
Assessio, which helps organisations make fairer, more objective people decisions through science, technology and data, has created a dedicated AI Squad to build AI-powered capabilities and shared services across its products, including pre- and post-hiring. It is looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to work across product, technology and codebases, turning ideas and business needs into scalable, production-ready solutions. The role is based in Tallinn, Estonia, in a hybrid setup.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with Product from discovery onwards, understanding the problem, challenging assumptions, identifying technical risks and helping decide how to build the solution.
- Design and build backend services, APIs, frontend interfaces and integrations.
- Build AI-powered capabilities and shared services that can support multiple products.
- Take solutions from discovery and technical design through implementation and production.
- Explore unfamiliar technologies and codebases rather than staying within one preferred stack.
- Deploy, monitor and improve production systems with reliability and maintainability in mind.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development, testing and problem solving.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering practices.
Required profile
- Experienced software engineer comfortable owning complex technical problems and making sound engineering decisions.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and genuine full-stack experience across backend and frontend.
- Experience building and maintaining software in production, and learning new technologies.
- Good communication skills and excellent written and spoken English and Estonian.
Required skills
- Strong backend, API and data experience, combined with solid system design thinking.
- AI-assisted development workflows and tooling.
- Plus: experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or Ruby; AI/LLM-powered functionality in production; shared services, platform architecture or scaling SaaS; cloud, CI/CD, automated testing and observability; security, privacy or compliance awareness.
What we offer
- A relatively new AI Squad where you can influence what and how things are built.
- Collaboration with colleagues across Engineering, Product and the wider Assessio Group.
- Working from home up to two days a week.
The recruitment process uses company assessment tools: an initial conversation with Talent Acquisition, assessments and interviews, a technical assessment and an onsite case conversation, followed by a reference check before the offer.
