Model Validation Lead

About the role

LHV is looking for a Model Validation Lead to join its risk management team in Tallinn. The role involves independently assessing and challenging the bank's risk models so that model risks are identified, understood and managed. It also includes giving technical guidance to fellow validators, improving validation methods and helping maintain the overall model risk framework.

Key responsibilities

• Perform independent validations of credit risk models and other risk models, covering scoping, testing and final reporting
• Prepare and present validation reports with clear findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Guide fellow validators technically and methodologically, reviewing their work for consistent quality
• Improve validation frameworks and workflows in line with regulatory guidelines and industry best practice
• Work with model developers and business owners to challenge quantitative assumptions, and take part in audit reviews and regulatory dialogues

Required profile

• University degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience building or validating credit risk models such as PD, LGD, EAD or IFRS 9
• Current residency in Estonia; relocation assistance is not provided
• Proficiency in Estonian

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, R or SQL, with strong skills in querying, processing and analysing complex datasets
• Solid knowledge of regulatory frameworks including IFRS 9 and IRB
• Strong analytical and critical thinking, attention to detail and ability to challenge model assumptions constructively
