About the role

As a psychologist working within a correctional facility, you will support individuals who are serving sentences, helping them understand their behaviour, thoughts and underlying motivations. The aim is to improve their coping abilities, reduce criminogenic risks and prepare them for a law‑abiding life after release.

Key responsibilities

• Provide psychological assistance and counseling to inmates on a daily basis.
• Assess inmates' needs and develop individualized coping strategies for complex situations.
• Motivate and guide inmates toward behavioural change, compliance with legal norms and participation in reintegration programmes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address a wide range of psychological issues and develop professional skills.

Required profile

• Higher education degree in psychology.
• Empathetic, non‑judgmental attitude with patience and consistency.
• Ability to build trustworthy relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Fluent Estonian language skills; Russian proficiency is an advantage.
