Senior Backend Engineer – Contacts

About the role

The Contacts team at Wise is a core team responsible for making it easy to add, find and manage recipients, covering the platform that secures tens of millions of bank accounts, the search algorithms and local integrations such as Pix, and the customer-facing screens. The team works in an agile fashion with designers, the product manager and the analyst, across the Tallinn and London offices. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will drive the technical vision of the backend powering the recipient experience and help scale a world-class recipient management product.

Required profile

• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems
• Years of Java 5+ knowledge
• Experience designing, deploying and maintaining clean RESTful APIs
• Strong product mindset, prioritising customer experience and making data-driven decisions
• Enjoyment of collaboration and of writing testable code

Required skills

• Relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and schema design
• Best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback
• Nice to have: Spring Boot and BFFs (Backend-for-Frontends)
