Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

About the role

Omniva is seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the cloud foundation for its new data platform. You will own the end‑to‑end GCP environment, from project structure and security to cost governance and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build the GCP foundation using Terraform, including project hierarchy, IAM, organization policies, and reusable modules.
• Implement secure hybrid connectivity between GCP, on‑premise systems, and Kubernetes‑hosted sources (private networking, DNS, firewall).
• Own BigQuery physical design, partitioning, clustering, storage billing model, and slot reservation strategy.
• Manage secret handling, service‑account design, and workload identity across the platform.
• Establish the orchestration runtime (managed or self‑hosted Airflow) with cost and performance justification.
• Integrate cost governance, budgets, query guardrails, quota management, and monitoring from day one.
• Define data residency and compliance architecture, including region strategy and customer‑managed encryption keys.
• Collaborate with the existing on‑prem platform engineer to transition to co‑ownership of the platform.

Required profile

• Deep, hands‑on experience building production environments on Google Cloud Platform.
• Expert‑level proficiency with Terraform, including reusable module design and state management for multi‑project setups.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and cost optimization.
