Senior & Expert Data Scientist – AI for Operations

About the role

Nordea is scaling Generative AI across its Operations division and seeks senior and expert data scientists to design, build, and scale AI solutions from concept to production. You will work on high‑impact AI and Generative AI projects that drive operational efficiency and support the bank’s 2030 strategic ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and shape high‑impact AI and Generative AI opportunities with business stakeholders.
• Prototype, build, deploy, and monitor production‑grade AI applications, including Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic AI, and LLM‑powered solutions.
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, architects, and business experts to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Drive experimentation, evaluation frameworks, and model quality assessments.
• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, governance, and Responsible AI requirements.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years delivering production‑grade AI, machine‑learning, or advanced‑analytics solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Python development and modern AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic AI architectures.
• Hands‑on work with AWS services, especially SageMaker and Bedrock.
• Knowledge of MLOps/LLMOps, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and model governance.
• Familiarity with Kong API Gateway and enterprise API ecosystems.
