Senior General Accountant

About the role

Wise is looking for a Finance Accountant to join its General Accounting team in Tallinn, Estonia. The team is part of the Finance Tribe and covers the financial deliverables for all entities in the Wise Group, working closely with Product, Controlling, Analytics, Risk and Controls and other Finance teams. The company is preparing to list on the US stock exchange in 2026 and needs its accounting function ready for the regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in month-end activities, mainly cost of goods sold accruals, investments accounting and other product-related adjustments
• Collaborate with finance and other teams to understand transactions and calculate accurate accruals
• Work with Risk and Controls to ensure SOX compliance in your area
• Maintain high-quality documentation for manual calculation processes and entries
• Take part in improvement projects to make accounting more reliable, efficient and automated
• Help the external audit by answering auditors' questions and requests
• Assist in preparing group-wide consolidated financial statements

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in accounting, financial controlling or audit
• Good understanding of core accounting principles
• Good collaboration skills, accuracy and attention to detail
• Good written and verbal English
• Nice to have: US GAAP and/or IFRS knowledge, experience in a multinational, regulated, Fintech or financial services environment

Required skills

• Advanced data processing; expert-level Excel is a must, SQL is an advantage
• Ability to handle large volumes of data and build reliable calculations with built-in controls

Salary: 2,800 to 3,500 EUR plus RSUs.
