Senior Product Engineer - Rules Platform

About the role

Wise is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join the Rules Platform team, responsible for the core risk assessment rules engine. You will help evolve the platform to meet growing demand and complexity across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of complex backend initiatives for the risk platform.
• Own and evolve internal libraries and shared components used by multiple teams.
• Contribute to architectural design and scaling of risk assessment services, ensuring performance, reliability and data consistency.
• Collaborate with Product, FinCrime and engineering teams to deliver cross‑functional solutions.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in JVM‑based languages such as Java or Kotlin.
• Proven experience maintaining internal libraries or shared components.
• Experience with Kafka and SQL databases in high‑reliability backend systems.
• Mentorship skills and ability to guide junior engineers.
• Comfort leading technical discussions and making architecture decisions.
