Senior Software Engineer I - FinCrime Requests

About the role

Wise is hiring a Senior Software Engineer I for its FinCrime Requests team in Tallinn. The team is the first point of contact for external investigations involving Wise's customers, processing requests from partner banks, law enforcement and other authorities while spotting suspicious activity. The role contributes to large projects such as email processing improvements and unified case management platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for automating investigative workflows while keeping customer experience and regulatory compliance in mind
• Improve automation systems using LLMs to process incoming emails from law enforcement and partner banks
• Build a unified request handling platform combining RFI and LE case management workflows
• Develop partner access capabilities so law enforcement and partner banks can access customer information more efficiently
• Enhance escalation systems to reduce false positives and customer friction
• Implement automated response generation using LLMs and templating systems
• Optimize suspended transaction handling to minimise customer impact while staying compliant
• Mentor junior engineers in financial crime investigation processes and stakeholder management
• Collaborate across FinCrime teams to share intelligence between investigations, fraud and sanctions teams
• Lead technical architecture discussions on systems handling sensitive law enforcement and partner communications
• Work with law enforcement agencies and partner banks to improve technical processes

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Java, the Spring framework, asynchronous message queues and microservices architecture (essential)
• Ability to build scalable case management platforms for growing global request volumes
• Experience creating data enrichment systems that automatically gather customer information
• Experience building flexible templating systems for responses across jurisdictions and languages
