Senior Software Engineer I – Payment Processing Platform

About the role

Wise is building a global payment processing platform that powers transfers and payouts for its product teams. As a Senior Software Engineer I you will help design, develop and scale reliable services that enable seamless money movement for customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance microservices for the Payment Processing Platform.
• Collaborate with product, risk and operations teams to ensure the platform is easy to integrate, extend and maintain.
• Drive automation, testing and code‑review practices to improve scalability and reliability.
• Investigate and resolve problematic payments and customer issues.

Required profile

• Strong product mindset with a focus on user experience and data‑driven decision making.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to cross‑team projects.

Required skills

• Proficient in Java 11 and the Spring framework.
• Experience with microservice architecture patterns and best practices.
• Hands‑on knowledge of distributed and concurrent systems.
• Working with relational databases, messaging queues and schema design.
