Senior Software Engineer - Real-Time Verification

About the role

Veriff's Biometric Solutions team builds an ML-powered platform that verifies identities in real time using image recognition, facial verification, face recognition, liveness detection and behaviour analysis. It is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and scale its real-time verification services, with security, scalability and maintainability at the core.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of the architecture of a strategically critical product area, shaping scalability, security and maintainability
• Lead transformational architecture work: real-time matching at scale, resilient event-driven services, and the CI/CD and observability foundations
• Set and raise engineering standards, and mentor and grow the engineers around you
• Partner with other engineers, ML data scientists and specialists, and drive cross-functional alignment with product and dependency teams
• Build scalable, maintainable APIs and event-driven services used by other teams and external customers

Required profile

• Over 5 years of experience building and operating large-scale applications (ideally in Python)
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, modular design and SOLID principles, with a track record of architectural ownership
• History of mentoring engineers and explaining solutions to non-engineers
• Strong communication and influencing skills, able to align engineers and non-engineers around a technical vision

Required skills

• Experience building scalable, maintainable APIs and working with message-queuing concepts
• Fluency with CI/CD, monitoring and running reliable, high-throughput services in production
• Comfort with a range of testing strategies
• Working understanding of relational databases and structured logging systems
• Nice to have: mobile SDKs (iOS, Android) or web in React; B2B/SaaS product experience
