About the role
Remote’s Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team builds and operates the core infrastructure that powers the company’s global HR platform. As a Team Leader you will split your time between hands‑on technical work (≈60 %) and people leadership (≈40 %). You will guide the team’s focus, own career development of engineers and act as the spokesperson for SRE across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Define and prioritize SRE goals, manage on‑call rotation and drive reliability practices such as SLOs, error budgets and incident response.
- Oversee the core platform – Kubernetes, AWS, PostgreSQL, DNS/TLS, CI/CD pipelines and the observability stack.
- Lead the career lifecycle of four direct reports: hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching and progression.
- Collaborate with Security, Compliance and vendor partners to ensure infrastructure hardening and audit readiness.
- Represent the SRE team to senior engineering leadership and influence cross‑team technical decisions.
Required profile
- Proven people‑leadership experience managing SRE, infrastructure or platform teams, including handling under‑performance and fostering growth.
- Deep hands‑on background in site reliability, DevOps or cloud engineering, capable of reviewing designs and leading incident response.
- Strong judgment in balancing operational load with project delivery while protecting team focus.
- Excellent written communication skills for a fully asynchronous, distributed environment.
Required skills
- Kubernetes in production.
- AWS at meaningful scale.
- PostgreSQL (or Aurora) performance tuning.
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
- CI/CD systems: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
- Docker and shell scripting.
- Observability tools: OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, Honeycomb.
- Experience building or scaling AI infrastructure.
