Compliance Generalist – AI Governance & Data Protection

About the role

Nortal is looking for a Compliance Generalist who will shape AI governance, data protection and regulatory compliance across the group. You will translate complex regulations into practical processes that enable the business to innovate safely.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the AI governance operating model, including structures, processes and accountability frameworks.
• Interpret and implement AI regulations, especially the EU AI Act, and produce internal guidance.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, information security, product and business teams to embed AI governance principles.
• Provide GDPR support: evaluate software approvals, manage data‑breach notifications, handle data‑subject rights and maintain registers.
• Lead regulatory monitoring, tracking legislative developments and emerging obligations.
• Support the compliance risk programme – policy management, due diligence, internal audits, investigations and conflict‑of‑interest processes.
• Design and deliver AI and compliance training across the organisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in compliance, legal or governance roles, preferably in a technology or professional‑services environment.
• Law degree (LLB, LLM) or a closely related qualification.
• Strong knowledge of AI regulation (EU AI Act), GDPR and data‑protection principles, with hands‑on privacy operations and policy drafting experience.
• Proven ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and produce clear, actionable guidance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and project‑management capabilities.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
