PLC Programmer

About the role

Ericsson’s Production Technology FA Equipment Development team in Tallinn is looking for an experienced PLC Programmer to design, develop, test and maintain PLC software that automates machinery and production lines. You will work on new equipment concepts, write and debug PLC code, develop HMI applications and ensure that all control systems meet safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Program new machines and production lines using Siemens and B&R PLCs.
• Develop and maintain HMI applications for production equipment.
• Provide technical support, root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting for automation equipment.
• Collaborate on equipment concepts and deliver PLC technical consultations.
• Test, verify and commission control systems to ensure functionality and safety.
• Implement industrial communication protocols (OPC UA) for integration with MES/SCADA.
• Write and update documentation to comply with applicable directives and company standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Programming, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Previous experience in PLC programming (Siemens, B&R) following IEC 61131‑3.
• Ability to read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical schematics.

Required skills

• Siemens PLC, B&R PLC, IEC 61131‑3.
• OPC UA (server/client setup, custom data structures).
• HMI development, RFID, safety circuits, motion control, pneumatic systems.
• SCADA systems (Ignition, WinCC).
• PLC‑robot integration (ABB, KUKA, Fanuc or similar).
• Hardware and software troubleshooting in production environments.
• Industrial cybersecurity best practices.
• Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Docker (optional but beneficial).
• Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps (optional).
