Principal Safety Engineer – Autonomous Driving

About the role

Bolt is looking for a Principal Safety Engineer to lead safety integrity for its SAE Level 4 Automated Driving System (ADS) across Europe. You will own the complete safety case, from hazard analysis to regulatory approval and commercial robotaxi deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the system‑level GSN/CAE safety case for the L4 ADS throughout the robotaxi lifecycle.
• Lead hazard analysis (HARA) and define the Operational Design Domain (ODD).
• Ensure compliance with EU Implementing Regulation 2022/1426, UN Regulation No. 185, ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO/SAE 21434, and UN R155/R156.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, fleet operations and regulatory teams to embed safety in architecture, processes and operational workflows.
• Drive safety‑by‑design decisions and maintain safety continuity from development to live fleet service.

Required profile

• Proven experience in safety engineering for autonomous or advanced driver‑assistance systems.
• Deep understanding of functional safety, cybersecurity and SOTIF standards.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Strong communication skills to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
