Systems Engineer

About the role

Threod Systems is looking for a Systems Engineer to own system requirements, architecture, interfaces, and technical integrity throughout the product lifecycle. You will translate operational and end‑user needs into clear, testable requirements and ensure that complex, integrated defence solutions meet performance, reliability, safety, and operational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Convert business, operational and user needs into well‑defined system requirements.
• Define and maintain overall system architecture, ensuring coherent subsystems and interfaces.
• Provide system‑level technical oversight during development, identifying gaps, risks and cross‑disciplinary dependencies.
• Plan and coordinate system integration, verification and validation activities to demonstrate compliance with requirements.

Required profile

• Strong systems‑thinking mindset with awareness of how subsystems and design decisions affect the whole system.
• Broad technical knowledge across mechanics, electronics, software, communications, optics or control systems.
• Ability to quickly grasp unfamiliar technical areas and know when to involve specialists.
• Confidence in challenging assumptions, resolving conflicting technical views and driving decisions across disciplines.
• Clear communication of technical decisions, constraints and open issues to engineering, testing and project teams.
