Backend Engineer, Core APIs

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer focused on Core APIs to join a fully remote engineering team that powers real‑time fraud detection for leading technology companies. You will design, build, and scale high‑performance backend systems using Go and Node.js, ensuring reliability and scalability for critical data‑processing services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise scalable backend systems for real‑time data processing and high‑performance web services.
• Build, maintain, and improve APIs, microservices, and backend infrastructure with a strong focus on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate backend components and ensure efficient operation at scale.
• Investigate complex technical problems through deep‑dive analysis, hypothesis testing, and data‑driven evaluation.
• Conduct performance tuning, debugging, testing, and reliability improvements across backend systems.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional backend software development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with Go and/or Node.js and a willingness to deepen expertise in both.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems, APIs, and real‑time data‑processing services.
• Strong understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases.
