Embedded Software Developer (Space Domain) for Cybersecurity

About the role

Cybernetica is looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join a cross-functional team building a cybersecurity module for spacecraft on commercial space hardware and a commercial RTOS. You will work daily with the Product Owner, Product Analyst, Space Systems Integrator and Test Engineer from early discovery through flight, owning the onboard software.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build the module's onboard software for resource-constrained hardware under real-time constraints, including porting proprietary algorithms to the target module and RTOS
• Build traffic interception and filtering data paths inside and below the OS network stack, plus bus drivers and protocol layers (CAN, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CCSDS) to the Integrator's interface control documents
• Implement fault tolerance as product behavior and build the on-orbit update and configuration mechanism
• Apply standards-aligned practices: requirements traceability, design documentation, configuration management, formal code review and static analysis
• Maintain developer-side tooling and work with OS and hardware vendors on BSP issues, driver defects and performance problems

Required profile

• 3+ years of production embedded software experience in C, C++, Ada or Rust on resource-constrained, real-time hardware
• Prior experience in a standards- and regulations-driven environment
• Solid grounding in low-level networking drivers, protocol stacks and data flow
• Experience designing fault tolerance in safety-critical systems (watchdog, graceful degradation, safe mode, recovery)
• Fluency reading schematics and data sheets, using an oscilloscope and logic analyzer
• Ability to work day-to-day in a cross-functional product team alongside non-engineers

Required skills

• Real-time OS experience: VxWorks, RTEMS, FreeRTOS, Zephyr or an in-house RTOS
• Preferred: spacecraft or satellite software, CCSDS, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire, Ethernet, update mechanisms, real-time performance engineering, cybersecurity background
