Principal Software Engineer

About the role

The Principal Software Engineer will provide hands‑on technical leadership for the Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) Developer Excellence team. You will shape architecture, drive AI‑powered automation, and improve developer productivity across Azure DevOps tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architecture, technical strategy, and design of developer platforms, services, and tooling for IC3 and Azure DevOps.
• Drive adoption of AI‑enabled engineering capabilities, intelligent automation, and LLM‑based solutions.
• Modernise build, test, release, source‑control, and workflow pipelines for consistency and scalability.
• Define common engineering frameworks and services to reduce duplication and standardise practices.
• Partner with engineering teams to understand needs, align technical direction, and deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Influence roadmaps, evaluate trade‑offs, manage dependencies, and resolve cross‑team architectural challenges.
• Champion secure development, CI/CD automation, observability, testing, reliability, and operational rigour.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (or higher) in Computer Science or related field with extensive experience in large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven track record leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Deep expertise in software architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Strong ability to influence without authority and communicate technical concepts in English.
• Understanding of data privacy, compliance, and security in distributed environments.
