Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Bondora is a fast‑growing fintech aiming to become a bank. As a Senior Data Platform Engineer you will own and evolve the data platform that underpins this transformation, ensuring reliability, scalability and governance across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the Databricks data platform and supporting Azure infrastructure.
• Build, maintain, and scale reliable production data pipelines and ingestion processes.
• Act as first responder for data platform incidents, including cross‑platform data‑quality issues.
• Enhance platform performance, security, secrets management, observability and cost efficiency.
• Strengthen data governance through clear ownership, access control, PII management and removal of orphaned jobs.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for testing, versioning, code reviews, CI/CD and GitHub‑based workflows.
• Design access, cost and observability boundaries for data agents to scale safely.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience with Databricks, Spark or similar distributed data‑processing technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to design, operate and optimise production‑grade data pipelines at scale.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to respond quickly to platform incidents.
• Experience establishing data governance, security and cost‑control practices.
• Ability to drive technical standards and influence cross‑functional engineering teams.
