Senior Engineering Lead - Generative AI Platform

About the role

Lead the Generative AI Platform team at Wise, building a platform that enables rapid experimentation and production of Generative AI systems while ensuring safety, reliability, and security for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Guide the growth of the AI enablement function, overseeing multiple engineering leads and shaping cross‑team AI capabilities.
• Design, build, and maintain cloud‑based services, libraries, and observability tooling to support high‑availability, security, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with product teams to turn AI ideas into production‑ready solutions.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate costs, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Experienced leader comfortable with agile and traditional delivery methods.
• Strong communicator who can build consensus and give/receive regular feedback.
• Self‑starter, collaborative, and able to solve problems from scratch.

Required skills

• Python development with production‑grade code, testing best practices, and microservice deployment.
• Design and implementation of distributed, concurrent systems (stateful/stateless, sync/async).
• Hands‑on experience with large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of agentic frameworks and building agentic workflows.
• Cloud platforms (AWS or similar), Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with TypeScript/JavaScript, Spring Boot, semantic search, RAG workflows, and payment‑platform concepts.
