Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Join the engineering team at Kuehne+Nagel to drive the systematic modernization of a global logistics platform. You will design, develop, and support services that enable the company to move fresh fruit, time‑sensitive healthcare products, and many other goods worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement RESTful APIs using the OpenAPI specification for self‑service platform capabilities.
• Write production services in Go, progressively replacing legacy Perl and C components.
• Contribute to a domain‑specific language that replaces KornShell workflows, scriptable via Python or Lua.
• Leverage AI‑assisted tools for code generation, analysis, testing, and documentation within enterprise governance.
• Maintain and extend existing Perl codebases while migration is in progress.
• Ensure cloud‑agnostic deployability across major cloud providers and on‑premises infrastructure.
• Participate in pair programming, design discussions, and code reviews focused on clean, testable code.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Go (preferred) or Perl, with willingness to grow in both languages.
• Experience designing or consuming REST APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Solid understanding of unit and integration testing practices.
• Comfort working with Linux (RedHat) and exposure to UNIX systems (AIX).
• Experience modernizing legacy systems incrementally while keeping production running.
• Pragmatic approach to AI‑assisted development.
• Experience in agile software development (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
