About the role
Kraken is looking for a seasoned leader to head its Data Platform team. You will own the design and operation of the real‑time streaming infrastructure that powers trading, risk, compliance and analytics across one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of senior data platform engineers building Kraken’s streaming infrastructure.
- Define architecture and roadmap for high‑volume, low‑latency data systems using Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, RisingWave and Apache Flink.
- Design scalable data architectures that serve trading, risk, compliance, analytics and product teams.
- Drive AI‑powered automation for data quality checks, pipeline orchestration, anomaly detection and self‑healing infrastructure.
- Partner with ML/AI, analytics and product engineering to deliver platform capabilities.
- Evolve Kraken’s data‑lake and warehouse to support batch and streaming workloads seamlessly.
- Set technical direction balancing reliability, velocity and cost efficiency at scale.
- Hire, mentor and retain top‑tier platform engineers, fostering a culture of ownership.
Required profile
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering or distributed systems.
- At least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams.
- Proven ability to handle competing priorities across multiple stakeholder groups.
