Software Engineer - Data Delivery Team
Playtech · Tallinn / Tartu
Job description
About the role
Playtech, a gaming technology company listed on the London Stock Exchange, is looking for a Software Engineer for its IMS Data Delivery Team in Tallinn/Tartu. The team sits in the IMS Data and Reporting Platform and owns core data and integration products for regulated operators, designing, building and running reliable flows between systems (APIs, messaging, file transfer) on Kubernetes, on-premises and mixed environments.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, test, debug and operate reliable features in Java, Vue and other stacks when needed.
- Work on information systems and integrations (APIs, messaging, data consistency) with clear ownership of failure modes and production behaviour.
- Use approved AI-assisted development, defining, reviewing and validating what you merge at the same standard as hand-written code.
- Contribute to automated testing, code review and documentation that outlive a single chat session.
- Extend and improve existing codebases, not only greenfield demos.
- Collaborate in agile delivery with the lead, product and peers, taking ownership of your areas and helping improve team practices.
- Take part in the on-call rotation, responding to production incidents and troubleshooting issues.
Required profile
- Professional experience building backend or full-stack software in a commercial or product team.
- Solid software fundamentals: runtime behaviour, relational databases and SQL, debugging with evidence, data structures and complexity awareness.
- Information systems thinking: source of truth, concurrent updates, integration partial failure and idempotency where relevant.
- Clean, maintainable, testable code and meaningful contribution to code reviews.
- Willingness to learn on the job, including Spring/Vue conventions, Kafka and internal platforms.
- Clear communication in English and respect for data classification and security requirements.
Required skills
- Java (Spring) and/or Vue
- Kafka or similar asynchronous integration
- SQL and relational databases
Extra points: production experience with Java (Spring) and/or Vue, Kafka, modernising large long-lived codebases, full-stack delivery across API and UI, and concrete examples of AI-assisted work with verified outcomes.
What we offer
- Training and knowledge sharing in a professional, fun team environment.
- Personal and professional growth.
- A well-being package and flexible work-life balance.
- Varied work and engaging company events.
