Space Systems Integrator – Cybersecurity Module
Cybernetica
Job description
About the role
Cybernetica is looking for a Space Systems Integrator to join a cross-functional product team building a cybersecurity module for spacecraft, targeting mid-LEO Earth observation, science missions and commercial constellations. You will be the team's expert on how spacecraft are assembled, from CubeSats to large platforms, and on buses, redundancy schemes and architectural patterns. You will join before the baseline exists and define the buses, interface behaviours and redundancy participation that the product will live with for years.
Key responsibilities
- Write and own the interface control documents, integration guides and reference architectures that customers' integration engineers use.
- Act as design authority for everything observable at the connector: interface behaviour, timing and bus configuration.
- Specify and validate spacecraft-side simulation and test configurations with the Test Automation Engineer.
- Advise customers on how the module fits their redundancy, fault-handling and timing architectures.
- Own the system-level technical relationship with the hardware vendor and surface system-level risks early in discovery.
- Support customers through integration, including pre-sales consultation, integration reviews and debugging at the spacecraft level.
Required profile
- Direct, hands-on spacecraft experience contributing to the architecture, integration or operation of at least one real spacecraft that flew or was built to fly.
- Familiarity with how nanosatellites, smallsats and larger platforms are architected.
- Experience with spacecraft redundancy architectures.
- Systems engineering rigour: requirements decomposition and traceability, technical budgets, margin management, and familiarity with NASA NPR 7120/7123/7123, the SE Handbook, ECSS-E-ST-10 / M-ST-10 or equivalents.
- Ability to explain interface decisions to external engineering teams and write clear documentation.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of several onboard buses and protocols such as Time-Triggered Ethernet, Ethernet, SpaceWire, CAN, UART/RS-422/485, I2C/SPI, MIL-STD-1553 and CCSDS Space Packet Protocol.
- Nice to have: production embedded development in C, C++ or Rust; FDIR design experience; mission operations exposure; hands-on instrumentation and debugging with bus analyzers and oscilloscopes.
What we offer
- Flexible working arrangements and private office space in Tallinn or Tartu.
- Paid health days, sports allowance, massage in the office and events.
- Opportunity to attend work-related conferences or trainings of your own choice.
- Compensation for tech gadgets and work travel, plus a referral bonus.
- Support for mental health and a supportive, inclusive team.
