Senior People Technology Engineer - Workday Time & Absence

About the role

Wise is hiring a Senior People Technology Engineer (Workday Time & Absence) in Tallinn, Estonia. As the principal technical product partner and domain subject matter expert for the global absence and time-tracking architecture, you will own the domain strategy and handle complex legislative environments across EMEA and beyond. The role is urgent and high-impact: it leads the remediation of legacy setup issues, ensures SOX compliance and unblocks global expansion, while also shaping a future People Operations adjacent product team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the hands-on architectural design and configuration of Workday Time Tracking and Absence Management, including complex statutory leave plans, time-entry validations and holiday logic.
• Own the technical health, reliability and compliance of the T&A domain, ensuring setups meet SOX requirements, financial audit needs and local labour laws.
• Act as a product partner to senior regional People Operations leaders (mainly EMEA), translating legal requirements into scalable Workday functionality.
• Resolve complex technical escalations, identify root causes and build long-term, scalable fixes instead of temporary patches.
• Define the long-term technical roadmap for T&A and mentor standard contributors (IC2s).

Required profile

• Extensive, senior-level experience configuring Workday Time Tracking and Absence Management, including multi-country statutory leave plans and time-entry rules from scratch.
• Proven experience managing SOX controls, internal audits and legislative changes in an HRIS environment.
• Ability to own a domain strategy independently and act as a peer to senior business leaders.
• Analytical mindset, able to turn complex legal requirements into clean system logic.
• Egoless approach, strong focus on data security and confidentiality, and commitment to quality testing and documentation.

Nice to have

• Workday Core HCM, Time Tracking or Absence Management certifications.
• Experience with broader Workday modules such as payroll or compensation integrations.
• Experience launching Workday in new countries during hyper-growth.
