Backend Engineer – Scalable Systems

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Backend Engineer to join Kuehne+Nagel’s product‑focused engineering team. You will help design, build and maintain secure, scalable backend services that power our global logistics platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement secure, scalable, and maintainable backend systems and services.
• Ensure high software quality through automated and manual testing (unit, integration, performance).
• Optimize databases, backend architecture and system performance for efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI designers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support deployment, monitoring, continuous improvement and provide 3rd‑level troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with backend programming languages and frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.
• Practical knowledge of modern development practices such as clean code, TDD/BDD and code reviews.
• Experience in database design, optimization and software architecture principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
