Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Konecranes is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join the Horizontal & Yard Technology department. You will be involved in the full lifecycle of state‑of‑the‑art container handling solutions, from design through on‑site implementation, ensuring that automated cranes and related systems operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Commission automated cranes, remote operator desks and interface systems.
• Report progress clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with customers during commissioning, maintaining professional communication.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on‑site.
• Conduct extensive testing with customers, often over 2–3 week periods.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Willingness to travel 200+ days per year, often in blocks of 6‑8 weeks.
• Systematic problem‑solving approach and strong English communication skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to different cultures.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting PLC code.
• Basic PLC programming knowledge (Siemens S7, Siemens TIA Portal).
• Understanding of Ethernet‑based device communication.
• Parametrisation of Ethernet‑based sensors and devices.
• Interpretation of electrical drawings.
