Head of Insurance

About the role

Bolt is looking for a senior leader to own and expand its group insurance function across more than 50 markets. The Head of Insurance will shape strategy, run the annual placement cycle and turn insurance into a commercial lever for ride‑hailing, delivery, micromobility and financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and continuously refresh the group insurance strategy covering motor/fleet, platform liability, cyber, D&O, property, cargo and affinity schemes.
• Lead the annual placement cycle with brokers, creating competitive tension, consolidating where beneficial and optimizing terms and premium efficiency.
• Build in‑house data capabilities (exposure, claims, loss triangulation) to reduce reliance on external advisors and evaluate captive or alternative risk‑financing structures.
• Partner with vertical GMs, product, legal and finance teams to embed insurance as a commercial enabler, including B2B offerings and regulatory coverage for new product launches.
• Ensure compliance across 50+ markets, with particular focus on EU, UK and Sub‑Saharan Africa, and align Bolt with DORA and EBA outsourcing obligations.
• Serve as the senior insurance voice to the C‑suite, General Counsel and risk committee, chairing the insurance seat on the risk committee.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in insurance strategy, placement and risk financing.
• Track record of building internal insurance data and analytics capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, partnering with product, legal, finance and regional general managers.
• Deep understanding of regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, especially EU, UK and African markets.
