Lead Software Engineer

About the role

Lead Software Engineer will shape the architecture and technical direction of Sony Music’s global B2B2C platforms. Working from our London or Tallinn office, you will collaborate with product, operations and business stakeholders to modernise critical systems while mentoring a high‑performing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable software solutions for global music‑industry platforms.
• Drive architecture decisions across distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines and platform services.
• Partner with product and operations teams to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code and establish engineering best practices.
• Lead technical design sessions, architecture reviews and modernization initiatives.
• Design resilient services and integrations with internal and third‑party platforms.
• Champion reliability, performance, observability and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers through coaching, code reviews and architectural guidance.
• Identify technical debt and lead initiatives to improve scalability and developer productivity.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root‑cause analysis across distributed systems.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to define long‑term technical road‑maps.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in Python and JavaScript.
