Principal/Staff Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Principal/Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of production‑grade AI agent systems for a fast‑growing healthcare AI company. This fully remote, full‑time position offers the chance to shape core infrastructure from the ground up while collaborating with a high‑performing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Build complex, production‑ready AI agent platforms from 0 to 1.
• Architect and scale distributed systems for enterprise healthcare environments.
• Work across large language models, agent orchestration, tool calling, multi‑turn routing, and MCP integrations.
• Own system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance monitoring.
• Provide hands‑on technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience building complex production systems.
• Recent senior‑level experience as a Staff, Principal, or Senior ML/AI engineer.
• Proven track record of taking products from concept to production in a startup setting.
• Strong background in Python and machine‑learning engineering.
• Experience with AI agents, tool calling, or multi‑turn interaction systems.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, early‑stage environments.
• Based in Europe/EMEA.
